THE MAGIC OF STARTING FROM SCRATCH

a fun experiment anyone can do to build a better life.

Do you know this one?

Your alarm rings, you wake up on the same side of the bed, same old sheets, same old blanket, probably needs a wash, but you’ve been busy… busy wasting time.

You get out of bed to start your same old routine. By now your thoughts should have started pouring in, same ones from yesterday and the day before, and the feelings that go along with those thoughts should have flooded your body as well.

Now you’re feeling like yourself.

Another robotic boring day ahead. You gotta get yourself pumped up! But you don’t. Why?

Because today, just like a great many days before this one, YOU are on autopilot.

Maybe your life sucks, maybe it doesn’t. Doesn’t matter though, because you not in enough awareness to even know…

If you don’t mind let’s stop this story here and talk about the magic of starting from scratch shall we?

HERES THE DEAL

You can be anything you want, because what you want is a by-product of your thoughts and behaviors.

All forms of success be they

- Mental

- Physical

- Emotional

- Spiritual

- Financial

begin at the same starting points:

- Mind then,

- Behavior

What I mean to say is, look at everything around you that is man-made.

From where did the thing originate before it took physical form?

In the mind as a thought, right? Every single thing …

And in order for it to become a physical thing, a series of behaviors was required [combined with ongoing thoughts] for a specific length of time [which was only know AFTER the thing was achieved (hindsight).

[Definition - Hindsight – understanding of a situation or event only after it has happened]

Here’s a couple questions to get you into awareness:

- What have you been thinking on daily basis?

- What have you been doing on a daily basis?

- Based on those answers – does your life not reflect EXACTLY the way you have been thinking and behaving?

But it’s hard to change because being “YOU” is a habit you’ve built. Reproducing the quality of life you have now comes natural to you. Instead of being deliberate about your thoughts and actions on a daily basis, you just let the fuckin’ the world dictate and influence your thoughts and feelings. You. are in. the Matrix.

[my working definition of The Matrix] – a series of elaborate strategies designed to manipulate and control the general population to behave in certain predetermined ways that are beneficial to the creators and orchestrators of the system, but detrimental to the populace in which it was originally designed for. The system is continuously being expanded and refined for maximum effect to achieve some goals which are known and others which are not. The plan likely operates on 99-year timeframes with an end-goal of power, control and dominance over the general population though different methods and means. And you are enrolled in this game without consent, and the only way out is to create your own set of rules to live by in replacement of the ones you have been given.

Do I still have your attention?

THE ART OF STOPPING

STEP ONE to becoming successful is about stopping old things not starting new ones. The ‘stopping of things’ is about making room in your life for something new. In order to start from scratch we have to get to scratch.

Goal ONE is about getting to ZERO. A blank slate, or at least as blank a slate as we can get. We are going to do an experiment. You’re going to stop being current you. For most people it will only last for 2-4 days so you’ll need a plan going into it to make the most of it.

Here’s a scenario I want you to create:

1. Choose ONE area of your life you would really like to change.

2. Write down all the things you don’t like about this area of your life

3. Gain some clarity on what you want in that area

4. Grab the worksheet it’s packed with questions and you’ll need [here] it’s free.

5. If you work a job see if you can get at least two days off in a row + the weekend for 4 days off in a row.

6. For all 4 days I want you to do NOTHING you would usually do.

7. Here is what I want you to do:

EVERY MORNING

  1.  DON’T touch your phone.

  2. As soon as you wake up while laying in bed– repeat your “POWER STATEMENT” 3x [from the worksheet]

  3. Take a deep breath in and exhale and think about how refreshing it feels (as many times as you like, breathing is good…obviously.)

  4. SMILE AS BIG AS YOU CAN (yes like a crazy person) show teeth, for 10 seconds or so (yeah you’re still in bed

  5.  Get up, take a warm shower rinse, brush your teeth, grab a bottle of water and go for a walk until the water is done or 15 minutes (whichever is longer)

  6. Come back home to your desk or kitchen table, pull out your worksheet and review it.

  7. Shut your phone off or put it on silent for the rest of the day – check it again at dinner time. Let important people know they won’t be able to reach you for a couple days until 6pm.

THE REST OF THE DAY

1. Sit at a Barnes & Noble or your local bookstore and find some books about changing that area of your life that you chose

2. Make some notes and find some new useful perspectives you can adopt

3. Go try something you haven’t done before. It doesn’t have to be expensive but it can be if that’s where you’re at.

I know your normal day goes nothing like this but do this:

4. Just think about yourself. Find the parts of you that you love and think about those for a bit. Think about a trip you took that you loved. Think about someone you love, now think about another person you love. Think about experiences you’ve had that you loved. Think about how you’re experimenting with change right now and how unusual it feels.

That’s it. New things and then nothing for the day. Give yourself space to think. To hear your inner voice again. Space to just be. This isn’t about changing all your habits. It’s about getting into awareness by making space.

I really hope you do this, and I really hope you enjoy it.

I would love to hear your experience. You can write to me by responding to this newsletter. I’ll get it.

If you’re not subscribed, I highly recommend you do. It’d be great to have you.

Till next time.
